Macro photography: a closer look at the world around us
Macro photography is where small things stop being small. At this scale a blade of grass becomes a landscape, an insect becomes a portrait subject, and the depth of field shrinks to a couple of millimetres, which makes every shot a negotiation with focus. These close-ups were taken in natural light with a dedicated macro lens, mostly in gardens and fields, exploring textures and details that are easy to walk past without ever noticing. Working in this genre has changed how I see ordinary surfaces, and I add new frames whenever something tiny decides to hold still long enough.
